DevOps Engineer - Remote (and Huddersfield) - £50k

 

Our client is expanding their engineering team and looking for a seasoned DevOps engineer.

The successful applicant will lead on several green field initiatives while also adding features to existing platforms. This role is fully remote with a regular meetup 2 consecutive days each month in Huddersfield.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, upgrade, maintain and scale a suite of critical operational systems
  • Closely collaborate with areas across the business to create highly operable and maintainable platforms
  • Manage cloud infrastructure in collaboration with Security, Networking and Development teams
  • Extend and maintain vulnerability and patch management process
  • Identify and reduce operational cost of running the business by identifying key factors of MTTR and MTTF
  • Give feedback, receive feedback, seek feedback, and set goals for improvement
  • Provide end-user support to engineering for products

 

Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of Site Reliability or DevOps Experience
  • Strong understanding of AWS cloud and Linux services, specifically those associated with automation (Infrastructure as Code), alerting monitoring and audit.
  • Understanding of database and database modelling
  • Understanding of TCP/IP network addressing, routing
  • Experience managing Git repositories with CI/CD for code quality checks and deployment automation
  • Great problem solving and self-learning skills
  • Must be comfortable working with critical and sensitive systems
  • Excellent communication skills both formal and informal, in person and remote.

 

Tech (As much as possible)

AWS core expertise:

Elasticsearch Service / Docker with ECS/EKS / VPC and EC2/ELB (ALB, NLB) / Route53 / Systems Manager / Serverless (Lambda, Dynamo, API gateway etc…)

 

Alerting and Monitoring:

PagerDuty / Grafana / Kibana / CloudWatch / Logstash / FileBeat / MetricBeat / AuditBeat

 

Infrastructure as Code:

Python BOTO3, NodeJS aws-sdk / Ansible (with Molecule) / Cloudformation (or Terraform) / Centralised configuration management (e.g. SSM Parameter Store, Hashicorp Consul)

 

Programming Languages & CI/CD:

Python / Ruby / NodeJS / Jenkins/BitBucket Pipelines/Circle Ci/Travis

 

Linux Administration:

LDAP authentication via PAM / Centralised audit of actions using auditd / Common services such as FTP, SSH, IP Tables

 

Security:

CIS guidelines for systems and Cloud / AWS Guard Duty and AWS Config / Best practice / Certificate Management
